Click here to register for the free Searle Center Grad and Postdoc Workshop Series: "Mentoring as Teaching: Best Practices in a Research Lab" that will take place on Thursday, May 31, from 10-11:30 AM at the Searle Center Library.

Workshop Description:
Mentoring in STEM research is an essential task that yields itself to proven teaching strategies, regardless of the level of research. This workshop explores the first steps one needs to consider when mentoring those engaged in independent research projects in laboratory settings. Participants will practice the roles of mentorship in research laboratories through active-learning exercises including role-playing and creation of an outline for an initial training program. The primary goal of this workshop is to elucidate first steps needed to create a framework to effectively teach others to become independent researchers in your own lab.
