InfoSocial 2018

On behalf of the InfoSocial 2018 Planning Committee, all students are invited to attend this year’s conference on March 9-10, 2018

InfoSocial is a graduate student research conference hosted by the Media, Technology, and Society (MTS) program in the Department of Communication Studies and the Technology and Social Behavior (TSB) program in the Department of Communication Studies in the School of McCormick. They gather talented graduate students once a year to discuss the imperatives of good scholarship in the information age. Our investigations cross fields of information studies, human-computer interaction, media studies, science and technology studies, sociology, queer studies, journalism, and law, among others.

Come join graduate students from their departments and across the country as they present their new and insightful research into our discussion topic for this year: the design and implementation of technologies and their short- and long-term impacts on our social, political, and economic sociotechnical systems. Their goal is to initiate conversations about ethical use of technology, civic technology for public and community use, and how technologies can enable a ‘better’ future. These are topics we believe are critical for those who work in this area to consider.

To RSVP, be sure to visit their Eventbrite page to confirm your attendance. This conference is free for all attendees.

Please feel free to share this message, and encourage others to attend this year's conference.

For more information about each day’s sessions, check out the InfoSocial site. If you have more questions, please feel free to contact them at infosocial@u.northwestern.edu.
