Holistic Admissions and Recruitment Program
The Graduate School’s Offices of Graduate and Postdoctoral Success (GPS) and Academic Programs invite graduate faculty and graduate program staff to participate in an interactive training on holistic admissions and recruitment—an approach to optimize the recruitment and selection of top tier students poised to succeed at a productive pace in graduate school.
Adapted from materials developed by University of Southern California’s EGE Resource Center, the training program offers hands-on tools and strategies based on translational research to provide high-quality, evidence based professional development for faculty and staff to create and sustain institutional change. The training program includes workshops on the following topics: Fundamentals in Graduate Admissions; Strategies for Holistic Review; Aligning Recruitment and Admissions. This training will support programs selection of students who are holistically equipped to an efficient progression towards to degree completion. We encourage academic programs to register as a collective unit (4-6 members) to foster shared understanding, strengthen program-level commitment to the new approach, and facilitate the development of coordinated implementation strategies, but smaller cohorts from programs are welcome.
Six TGS academic programs are participating in the AY26 training program and registration for AY27 will open this summer.
