Director of Graduate Studies (DGS) Excellence Award

The Director of Graduate Studies (DGS) plays a pivotal role in shaping the academic quality and integrity of graduate programs at Northwestern University. Serving as the primary liaison among faculty, students, and The Graduate School (TGS), the DGS ensures program policies align with institutional standards while fostering an environment that supports scholarly excellence.
This award recognizes outstanding leadership and service by a current DGS who demonstrates an exceptional commitment to advancing graduate education. The recipient exemplifies excellence in fostering academic quality, supporting graduate student success, and promoting collaboration among faculty, students, staff, and TGS.
The DGS Excellence Award recipient will be recognized with a certificate of recognition and a monetary award.
Nomination Procedures
All current TGS Directors of Graduate Studies (DGS), master's and/or PhD, who are members of the graduate faculty at Northwestern University are eligible to be nominated for this award. This award recognizes outstanding leadership and service by a DGS who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to advancing graduate education. Recipients will exemplify excellence in fostering academic quality, supporting graduate student success, and promoting collaboration among faculty, students, and The Graduate School (TGS).
