Register for Spring 2024 CIRTL Programming

Register for these upcoming Spring Quarter 2024 programs offered by the Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning (CIRTL) at the Searle Center for Advancing Learning and Teaching.

  • Equity in STEM Journal Club
The Equity in STEM Journal Club is a four-week, evidence-driven reading group designed to deepen participant understanding of equitable teaching practices in STEM. Addressing a variety of principles related to equity and learning such as race-conscious sense-making of teaching, awareness of gendered dynamics in STEM classrooms, and humanizing pedagogies, this group empowers participants to develop an equity-based mindset and a critical approach to effectively addressing inequalities in STEM education.

Virtual sessions will take place on Tuesday mornings in April. Register here by Friday, February 23.

  • Mentored Discussions of Teaching
Mentored Discussions of Teaching invites STEM and SBE (social, behavioral sciences and economics) graduate students and postdocs to observe faculty who teach undergraduate or early graduate courses and meet with faculty to discuss their perspectives and approaches/methods. Participants also engage in group discussions on selected readings that address key topics in teaching.

The observations and group discussions will take place during the spring quarter. Register here by Friday, March 1.

Offered by Northwestern's Searle Center for Advancing Learning and Teaching, the CIRTL network invites all STEM and social and behavioral sciences graduate students and postdocs to participate in CIRTL programming and online networking, including virtual courses and workshops.
