OSL Spotlight: Transportation Club

How would you describe your organization to someone who hasn't heard of it?

Through events, field trips, and networking opportunities, the Transportation Club connects communities, generates interest, and creates space for transport enthusiasts and career-seeking students to collaborate and celebrate their shared interests at Northwestern.

Who all is eligible to join your organization?

Anyone who is interested in transportation – graduate, undergraduate, postdoctoral trainees, staff, or faculty!

How does one "join" your organization?

They can reach us at nutransportationclub@gmail.com and request to join.

What can new members expect from your organization?

A welcoming community of students that could talk about transportation for hours! We plan exciting student-led workshops for sharpening our technical skills as well as industry tours of large transportation facilities.

What is your organization's biggest annual event?

We usually have at least one annual industry tour in which we visit a large transportation facility (most recently, an Amazon fulfillment center).

What is one of your most popular events/activities?

Our Transportation Trivia event, hosted by the Transportation Library at NU was a very popular way to have people bond (and compete) over their love for transportation.

What would you say is one of your organization's biggest successes or achievements?

We are definitely proud of the sense of community we create in supporting each member in their research and academic career. Creating that support network is something we really cherish.

What impact do you think your organization has on the TGS community?

We strive to provide the TGS community with a group where people can forge both formal and casual relationships that will help them in their life and careers during their time at Northwestern and beyond.

What is one thing you want everyone to know about your organization?

We are a fun and all-inclusive group of transportation-lovers!
