Putting Theory to Work: A Career Exploration Workshop Series for Humanities PhDs

Join Northwestern Career Advancement (NCA) for bagels, coffee, and career reflection the next two Wednesdays! Sessions will be led by Tracie Thomas, Director of Career Development at NCA and Elysse Longiotti, the dedicated career adviser for PhDs. NCA will also be planning a career site visit as a group to learn how advanced degrees in the humanities can be leveraged in a variety of fields. PhD students at all stages of their programs are welcome.

You can RSVP for both sessions in Handshake, though registration is not necessary to attend.

Putting Theory to Work: A Career Exploration Workshop Series for Humanities PhDs

Part One: What can you do with a humanities PhD?
Do you have trouble articulating the value of your scholarship, service, and community involvement? Whether you’re thinking about tenure track opportunities, a career in public humanities, or a myriad of other fields, you’ll need to develop a professional narrative and speak to your experiences. In part one of this two part series, we’ll help you think through the impact of your research and how to talk about it.

Part Two: What do you want to do with a humanities PhD?
After having explored the skills and impact of your graduate student experiences, we’ll start to think how you can go about finding the best career fit and options.

Please email Elysse Longiotti with any questions.
