Why did you choose Northwestern?
I chose Northwestern for a variety of reasons: graduate school rankings, it is a drivable distance from my home in SE Michigan, the proximity to Chicago, a positive visit weekend experience, and a recommendation from an undergrad professor/mentor.
How would you describe your research and/or work to a non-academic audience? What was it then and/or what it is now?
Then: Fundamental research into biological surfaces using lasers
Now: R&D project management at an industrial chemical manufacturer of surfactants (molecules that are key to cleaning products). Focusing on consumer products cleaning applications.
