Data Science Consultants, Northwestern IT Research Computing Services

Northwestern Information Technology (IT) Research Computing Services is searching for third- through fifth-year PhD students (during  the 2019-20 academic year) to fill multiple Data Science and Programming student positions. Data Science Consultants work with staff data science experts to help Northwestern researchers with the technical and computational challenges in their research.  They hold consultation hours to answer questions from students, postdocs, and faculty about data analysis, writing computer scripts, visualizing and presenting data, research reproducibility and replicability, and effectively using computational resources.  They work on short projects for researchers requiring expertise in coding or analysis skills.  They design and teach workshops on data science topics in R, Python, and other languages/programs.  Learn more about what they do.   

Eligibility
  • Third- through fifth-year PhD students (during 2019-20) who are done with full-time classes
  • Comfortable using and teaching R or Python
  • Any department or school
  • Either Evanston or Chicago campus, but able to work in Evanston at least 4 hours a week
