Neisser Family Curatorial Internship: Summer 2019

The Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) Chicago is excited to collaborate with Kate Neisser and the Neisser Family Foundation to launch the Neisser Family Curatorial Internship. This internship will serve as an opportunity for college and graduate level students of color to learn and work in a leading, globally-focused museum that is vested in their growth and progression. To be considered for this internship, applicants must be applying for an internship in the Curatorial department and identify as a person of color. A stipend of $3,200 is available each term.

To be eligible for the Neisser Family Curatorial Internship Stipend candidates must:

  1. Meet all the requirements of the Internship Program listed on the MCA website
  2. Currently be enrolled in a college or university
  3. Identify as a person of color
  4. Be interested in an internship in the Curatorial department
  5. Submit a 500 word statement of purpose, in addition to general application materials

Application materials include: resume, cover letter, one letter of recommendation, a one- to two-page writing sample from an academic paper (preferably on art history, contemporary art, museum studies, or a related topic), a 500 word statement of purpose, and a general application. Due to our application system’s configuration we ask that you submit your cover letter,letter of recommendation, writing sample, and statement of purpose in one single document (PDF, .doc or .docx). Please submit this PDF when prompted to upload your cover letter. Your resume should be uploaded separately. Please note, if you do not have your letter of recommendation at the time of application it may be sent separately by email as long as it arrives by the deadline of Sunday, March 17.

If you're sending a letter of recommendation after you've submitted your online application, you may send the letter via email to internships@mcachicago.org. If you choose to have the letter emailed, please ask your recommender to include the following information in the email: Applicant Name, Applicant’s Chosen Department, Recommender’s Name and professional organization.

Summer term is June - August.
