For many, managing the demands of your work and personal life can be a challenge. Northwestern offers a broad range of resources to support you and your family in meeting your professional and personal needs. The Graduate School and Office of Postdoctoral Affairs encourage you to take advantage of these resources and create a healthy work/life fit.

The Office of Work/Life and Family Resources

The Office of Work/Life and Family Resources provides a range of services to support the work/life and family needs of postdoctoral fellows, including workshops and resources on parenting and childcare. Schedule a one-on-one consultation with Lesley Lundeen, the TGS Family Resource Liaison, to learn more about the resources available to help you navigate academic and family responsibilities.

The Office of Religious and Spiritual Life

The Office of Religious and Spiritual Life provides resources to support faith, build community, and offer pastoral guidance in times of crisis.

Weekly Drop-In Meditation Groups

The Office of Religious and Spritiual Life organizes two weekly drop-in meditation groups on both the Chicago and Evanston Campuses:

  • In Chicago: Tuesdays from 1:30-1:55pm in the Women's Center (Abbott Hall, Suite 1400, Chicago)

    Join YourLife each Tuesday for a meditative practice. The benefits of meditation include reducing stress, improving concentration and increasing happiness. Meditation formats will vary from guided meditations, to recordings and artistic meditations. No previous experience is necessary. Elizabeth Tuckwell will lead the guided meditations.

  • In Evanston: Fridays during the Academic Year, 12:15-12:45pm in the Multi-Belief Space (Parkes 204, 1870 Sheridan Rd.)

    Open to all students, staff and faculty. No previous experience is necessary and first time participants are encouraged to come a few minutes early or to schedule an appointment with Eric Budzynski (e-budzynski@northwestern.edu
