Message from Dean Woodruff: Coronavirus Update
Dear Members of The Graduate School Community:
The University is monitoring the coronavirus outbreak that originated in China and will continue to provide updates as needed. Please refer to this all-campus message and related FAQs for additional guidance. Information is also updated in English and Chinese on the Northwestern Health Service homepage (see News and Announcements).
As noted, all University-sponsored student travel to China for undergraduate and graduate students is prohibited until further notice.
- Other community members traveling to China for essential, University-related purposes should notify the Office of Global Safety and Security (OGSS) of their travel plans well in advance of departure.
- Regardless of destination, Northwestern policy requires graduate student travelers to register their travel with OGSS and to obtain international health insurance from GeoBlue. For more information on travel registration, refer to these Graduate Student Travel Policies.
- Personal travel, such as vacations or visits home (even if one’s home is abroad), is not considered University-sponsored travel.
As an additional flu season reminder, a seasonal influenza vaccine is available to currently registered students through Northwestern Health Service/Evanston.
The safety and well-being of our students is a top priority and we will keep you informed about institutional policies that impact you, your work, your health and the community.
