Presidential Management Fellowship Applications Due October 17

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management invites applications for the Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) program through Thursday, October 17 at 12:00 PM EST

The PMF program is only open to US citizens who are recent graduates of a master's or PhD program (graduated within two years of today's date) or will graduate by August 31, 2020. The program gives fellows priority access to high GS-scale positions, targeted small-group mentoring, a rotation at a partner agency, and more during the 2-year fellowship and priority conversion afterwards. For students interested in government positions - especially in highly competitive agencies that will provide clearance(s) - this can be a great way to skip entirely and enter at a higher GS scale.

General Application Tips:

  • Prepare a long- and short-form CV/resume ahead of time, as well as a personal statement similar to one used for Fulbright, but oriented towards a government supervisory role. These probably cannot be uploaded, but may be useful reference materials or thought exercises.
  • The online application takes 2-4 hours and should be completed in a single sitting, ideally before the due date. Assume the webcam will be on.
  • The "situational judgment" test is situational so the answer is "it depends," but please answer how you reasonably think you would act in an office environment that prioritizes hierarchy and "being in the loop."
