Apply Now for the 2018-19 Digital Humanities Pedagogy Workshop

The Alice Kaplan Institute for the Humanities invites humanities students to apply to the Graduate Student Digital Humanities Pedagogy Workshop (DHPW) for 2018-2019.

This workshop is a year-long, collaborative learning experience dedicated to supporting graduate students in the development of digital humanities skills and pedagogical practices. The DHPW will consist of critical discussions on pedagogy, hands-on tool learning, guest faculty speakers, and course conceptualization. Over the course of the year, participants will create assignments using digital platforms and, by year's end, will have completed the design of a course syllabus.

Bringing together 8 to 12 humanities students, the DHPW is open to all people regardless of previous experience with the digital humanities.

The DHPW will convene ten times over the course of the year, on the following Tuesdays from 12:30 - 2:00 PM:

  • Fall Quarter:  October 16 | October 30 | November 13  | December 11
  • Winter Quarter: January 15 | February 5 | February 26 | March 19
  • Spring Quarter: April 9 | April 23

Each meeting is mandatory. If you have any concerns about the dates, please feel free to contact Susanna Sacks or Liz Laurie.

Applications are due on Wednesday, September 19 and should be submitted electronically. Click here for the application.

The DHPW is hosted by the Alice Kaplan Institute for the Humanities, co-convened by Susanna Sacks and Liz Laurie, and advised by Josh Honn (Digital Humanities Librarian).

If you have any questions, please contact either Susanna Sacks or Liz Laurie. Please feel free to circulate this call to interested parties.
