2018 Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Deadline

The national deadline for the 2018 Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad competition cycle has been announced by the program director as July 2, 2018.

Our campus deadline is Monday, June 18, 2018 at noon. Please email Stephen Hill at s-hill@northwestern.edu in the Office of Fellowships as soon as possible if you would like to apply in this current cycle.

Please note the following:

  • The Fulbright-Hays homepage is here.
  • The International and Foreign Language Education Division of the Dept. of Education held a pre-application technical assistance webinar on May 24, which may be found here.
  • The guidelines for the 2018 Fulbright-Hays competition remain similar to last year. This year, there are again only two competitive priorities, and applicants will receive points independently in each priority category:
    • Priority #1 is for use of Less Commonly Taught Languages* in the research project (3 points).
    • Priority #2 is for projects in the following fields (2 points):
      • Economics
      • Engineering
      • International Development
      • Mathematics
      • Political Science
      • Public Health
      • Science
      • Comparative or International Education
      • Technology

* Less Commonly Taught Languages recognized by Fulbright-Hays:
