STEM Circuits: 2019 Kick-Off on January 15

Created: December 14, 2018

The Chicago Women in STEM Initiative of NUPA is excited to announce that registration is now open for the pilot of their interdisciplinary STEM mentoring program for all Northwestern students, postdocs, faculty, and staff! STEM Circuits: 2019 will meet monthly from January until June, alternating between the Northwestern Chicago and Evanston campuses. At each meeting, they will explore a rotating topic of interest, (i.e., STEM communication, entrepreneurship/innovation, or Intersectionality) typically via a speaker or activity, followed by small group discussion and networking.

STEM Circuits was established to address the persistent need for mentoring to promote the retention and advancement of early career women (i.e., graduate students and postdocs). Their goal is to create an inclusive and diverse local STEM community, while providing ongoing professional development and leadership opportunities for participants.  The program is open to all Northwestern students, postdocs, faculty, and staff in STEM-related fields, as well as members of the initiative's professional network! Please visit their website to learn more about upcoming events and activities.

STEM Circuits: 2019 will kick-off with a networking event on Tuesday, January 15 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM in Evanston in the Willen's Wing Atrium (Tech). Monthly meeting attendance, including the kick-off, is encouraged, but not required. If you know of any other students or postdocs who may be interested in signing up, please share this invitation with them. Faculty and/or staff who may be interested in participating as speaker or small group discussion leaders may contact: women@nupostdocs.org
