MSE and BSEE Professional Development Programs Celebration

Created: August 10, 2018
MSE and BSEE graduates mingle at the celebration

On Monday, August 6, The Graduate School (TGS) and Kellogg School of Management hosted a celebration to honor the most recent PhD candidates and postdoctoral fellows to complete the Management for Scientists and Engineers (MSE) certificate program and the Business for Scientists Executive Education (BSEE) program.

Launched in 2008 and 2009, respectively, the MSE and BSEE programs provide unique opportunities for talented graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to learn business practices from top Kellogg business professors. These programs were developed specifically for scientists, engineers, and those in closely related professions to provide foundational knowledge and skills in core business disciplines.

The newest graduates celebrated their success at Gordon’s Marketplace in the Kellogg Global Hub with light appetizers, drinks, and the company of their classmates, professors, and TGS representatives. Professor James Conley, faculty member in the Kellogg Center for Research in Technology & Innovation, thanked the students for their hard work and congratulated them on completing the program. He also thanked Kellogg colleagues, Julie Gertz, Sheneen Landry, and Amanda Sveda, for their support and partnership in organizing these opportunities.

Sergey Kucherenko, TGS Associate Dean of Finance, echoed his support of these programs on behalf of The Graduate School. “We are very proud of these programs ... they are unique opportunities that draw the most talented graduate students and postdoctoral fellows,” Sergey said. “Some of you were probably drawn to Northwestern for your graduate or postdoctoral training precisely because you knew that you would have the opportunity to supplement your excellent research training with this type of professional development.”
