Graduate Assistantship (2018-19) — Call for Applications

Build your credentials and portfolio in the public humanities!

Applications are being accepted for the Graduate Assistantship in the public humanities for the 2018-19 academic year. The Assistantship is designed to build professional capacity in programming, administration and leadership, and will provide hands-on experience in administering undergraduate initiatives (like the Humanities Plunge), developing outreach initiatives, and managing programs of the Kaplan Humanities Institute. The goal is to develop skills to build and expand credentials and portfolio in the public humanities, with particular training in understanding the mission and operations of an academic humanities institute. 


  • PhD student in the humanities or social sciences
  • Must be in good academic standing and have the approval of primary thesis advisor and the program’s Director of Graduate Studies
  • Must not be beyond sixth year in the year of appointment

Funding: Includes stipend for academic year (Sept.-June), tuition scholarship, and health insurance
