Graduate Assistant Opportunity: Global Humanities Initiative

Created: August 3, 2018

Northwestern's Global Humanities Initiative (GHI) is seeking a graduate assistant for the 2018-19 academic year. The salary will be $20/hour for approximately 100-120 hours throughout the year.

Responsibilities include:

  • Website, email account, and social media management
  • Logistics and publicity for events
  • Planning input for future GHI activities
  • Miscellaneous administrative support

The ideal candidate is proactive, has a strong existing skill set related to the relevant tasks, has some relevant scholarly interests/expertise, and has an enthusiasm for the global humanities more generally. No experience is necessarily required, as some training will be provided by the Buffett Institute for Global Studies.

Those interested in applying should send a brief cover letter, CV, and the names and contact information of two faculty references (who will be contacted only if necessary) to the GHI directors:

The cover letter should explain why you are interested in the position, any relevant administrative, technical, and/or scholarly expertise, as well as how you intend to manage your time while working for the Initiative. (GHI is mindful of your academic pursuits and would not want your work to be impacted by taking on this position.)

For the right candidate, this position is a wonderful opportunity to work with Northwestern faculty across Weinberg College, as well as the various writers, scholars, and artists-in-residence that the Initiative brings to campus each year.

The application review will begin on August 10, and continue until the position is filled.
