Call for Applications: Black Arts Initiative Graduate Assistantship

Applications are being accepted for the Black Arts Initiative Graduate Assistantship for the 2018-19 academic year. The Assistantship is designed to build professional capacity in programming, communications, and administration. Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Leading communication strategies, including managing the Black Arts Initiative website, Facebook page, and listserv; producing and promoting content; and publicizing BAI events on BAI platforms and with other departments
  • Managing BAI events (including scholarly lunch presentations, lectures, artist talks, theater outings, and conferences) by coordinating event logistics
  • Overseeing the BAI budget
  • Assisting the Director and BAI faculty on projects as needed 
Candidates seeking experience in research and practice related to black arts are highly desired. This assistantship is provided by funding from The Graduate School and the School of Communication.
 
Eligibility:
  • PhD student must be in a humanities or social science discipline in the School of Communication
  • Must be in good academic standing
  • Must have the approval of the program DGS and primary thesis advisor to accept the appointment
  • Must not be beyond the sixth year of appointment
Funding: 
Stipend for the September 2018 – June 2019 academic year
