Announcing the 2017 Presidential Fellows

Modified: February 28, 2017

Dear Members of the Northwestern Community,

I write to inform you that the winners of the Presidential Fellowship have been selected for the 2017 academic year. This fellowship is the most prestigious award available to graduate students at Northwestern: it is funded by the President of the University and awarded by The Graduate School. The students selected to receive the fellowship were nominated by their respective academic programs for representing a combination of intellectual and creative ability, as well as demonstrating the capacity to play an important leadership role not only in the Society of Fellows, but also in their respective disciplines and beyond. In their role as Fellows, they will attend quarterly dinners of the Society of Fellows hosted by me, spearhead outreach activities, and lead discussions and seminars during at various gatherings.
The outstanding students who were chosen to receive the Presidential Fellowship in 2017 are:

  • Mollie McQuillan, Human Development and Social Policy
  • Anya Degenshein, Sociology
  • Daniel Garcia, Chemical Engineering
  • Marcos Leitao De Almeida, History
  • Jason Rosenholtz-Witt, Music
  • Kritish Rajbhandari, Comparative Literary Studies
  • Paul Ohno, Chemistry
  • Carolyn Wilke, Civil & Environmental Engineering

New fellows will be inducted into the Society of Fellows on May 2. Please join me in congratulating these distinguished students on this impressive achievement.
With Warm Regards,
Dwight A. McBride, PhD
