NSDS's Spring Dance with Patty and the Buttons!

Modified: February 13, 2015

Friday, April 3, 7:30-11pm
Norris Center, Louis Room 205

Patty and The Buttons preach the gospel of hot rhythm and happy feet, playing music of the 1920-30s from dance halls, cafes and nightclubs around the world. While firmly rooted in tradition, the band also performs original compositions and modern interpretations of music from the era. Patty’s eclectic taste and the band's diverse influences include New Orleans Traditional Jazz, Western Swing, Gypsy Melodies, Ragtime Piano Blues, Jug Music and 1930s Popular Song. The band's mix of accordion, clarinet, guitar and bass is at times light and swift, and at others lush and melancholic. Above all, The Buttons always enjoy themselves, and give audiences permission to do the same.

Free beginner lessons will be at 7:30-8pm and dancing with live music will be at 8-11pm. The event is $5 for NU students and $7 for everyone else.

See Facebook for more information. And don't forget NSDS's weekly swing dance classes! Drop in any time.
