Northwestern Billing Info: Actions Required for New Students

Modified: September 16, 2015

When your bill is available for viewing online, you will receive an email at your official Northwestern email address. Depending on your personal situation, whether you are living in campus housing and when you register, you may receive your first monthly Northwestern bill on October 11. Student Financial Services recommends that you act before you are billed to set your billing preferences and authorize any additional payers for your account. Please note: you and your guest payer(s) have the option of making payments either online or by mail regardless of the billing delivery method you select.

Tuition Billing Methods
Northwestern’s preferred bill delivery method is eBilling via QuikPAY®. However, you may request that your bill be printed and sent via regular mail by changing your “User Preferences” in QuikPAY®. If you select paper billing, the bill will be mailed to the permanent address listed in CAESAR under Home> Personal Profile> My Addresses. Please verify that your billing address is correct and make any necessary changes to your user preferences by October 8 to meet the deadline for your billing cycle.

Your bill for the fall term will be available online on October 11 in QuikPAY®, Northwestern’s eBill & ePay service. You can access QuikPAY® via CAESAR. Students login with NetID and password; guests login with GuestID and password. CAESAR> Home> View or Pay Tuition Bill (Monthly Snapshot).

In QuikPAY®, students or guests can view their tuition and fees bills and bill history, make secure electronic payments from bank accounts located in the U.S., and see a history of their ePayments. They will receive an email notification whenever a new bill generates and confirmation of each payment they make. Although tuition is billed each term, charges from other offices at the university (e.g., University Housing, activity fee, parking fee, parking & library fines) may be billed to the Student Account at any time. An invoice may generate as often as once a month if there is a balance other than zero on the account or if there has been any activity on the account since the prior billing cycle.

Guest Access for Parents/Others
Students may give permission to their guests (parents or other individuals) to view selected areas of their student record by adding them to the Guest Center of CAESAR, Northwestern’s secure gateway to online student services. Students may log in to CAESAR with their NetID and password. CAESAR> Main Menu> Manage Guest Access> Add Guest.

Guest menu items available include:
√ Make Housing Deposit (non-refundable) if living in University housing: confirms that a student intends to reside in university housing; this credit applies toward the upcoming housing charge, and is only used before receiving a monthly tuition bill;
√ View or Pay Tuition Bill (Monthly Snapshot): view the monthly tuition bill and make secure online payments;
√ View My Account (Real‑time, Daily Activity): see daily account updates;
√ 9PAY (Apply for 9PAY & Make 9PAY Payment): tuition & fees monthly installment plan;
√ 1098-T: view or print 1098-T statement.

Guests will receive their GuestID via email, but you must communicate the case-sensitive password to them.
