Student Health Insurance and Fall Quarter 2014 Graduation

Students who are graduating at the end of Fall Quarter 2014 will have 2014-15 NU/Aetna Student Health Insurance coverage for the duration of the policy (ends automatically on August 31 2015; no COBRA option is available).  Students can request an Insurance Cancellation Form from the NU Student Health Insurance Office by contacting: student.insurance@northwestern.edu . The Deadline to submit the Insurance Cancellation Form is Friday December 12, 2014.

TGS students who received a student health insurance subsidy in CAESAR from The Graduate School and request insurance cancellation will have the remainder of their subsidy rescinded by TGS.  Students that keep the NU/Aetna Student Health insurance through August 31, 2015 will still have the insurance subsidy apply.  Contact Patricia Mann, Assistant Dean of Financial Aid at TGS (p-mann@northwestern.edu) with student health insurance subsidy questions.

If cancellation is requested, the insurance policy would terminate at the end of Fall Quarter 2014 (December 31), and a credit of $2,587 will be posted to your CAESAR account. NU Student Accounts will issue a refund if there is a positive account balance upon receiving a request.  Note that the Student Health Insurance Office does not issue refund checks.  It is not possible to prorate the cancellation on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.
