The National Science Foundation (NSF) offers institutional training grants in the form of the "Integrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship Program (IGERT)" grants.  Information about the IGERT program can be found at http://www.igert.org/index.asp.

Institutions with IGERT grants are found at http://www.igert.org/programs.asp?sort=alpha

NSF solicits IGERT proposals once each year.  The process includes submission of a limited number of preproposals from each institution, from which NSF invites full proposals for submission.  Details of the proposal requirements and procedures are found in the 2008 IGERT Program Solicitation NSF 08-540  http://www.nsf.gov/pubs/2008/nsf08540/nsf08540.htm, released on January 25, 2008.

Because of NSF's limited submission requirements, Northwestern's Office for Research will hold an internal competition to select the set of Preliminary Proposals that will be submitted to NSF.  The internal review submission deadline for this process is forthcoming.
