REGISTRATION

Q. What is the difference between TGS 588, TGS 598, TGS 599, and TGS 512?
A. TGS 588 is a 0-credit registration (does not fulfill residency credit requirements) but does give a student full-time student status - for loan deferment, visa status, etc. Master’s degree students who are receiving funding and who require full-time registration may register for TGS 588.
TGS 598: carries no credit toward residency and fulfills no requirements. It does allow a PhD student who has not yet been admitted to candidacy to maintain full-time status and to use University facilities.
TGS 599: After admission to PhD Candidacy and satisfying the residency requirements a student must complete three quarters of 599 Postcandidacy Research registrations. These quarters need not be consecutive.
TGS 512: All doctoral students in years one through nine, and master’s students in years one through five, must be registered at Northwestern University in each of the fall, winter and spring terms. Students who need to maintain full-time enrollment, but who are not receiving funding or do not meet the enrollment conditions outlined on our Web site may enroll in TGS 512 at a cost of $100/quarter.

Q: I need to enroll in TGS 512, Continuous Registration. Am I eligible for health insurance?
