U Pass Implementation

1) A tentative Fall Quarter 2008 U-Pass distribution schedule is outlined below

From September 11-18, 2008, we plan to distribute Fall Quarter 200 U-Passes (activated September 18-December 11, 2008) from several campus locations.  See tentative dates, times, and locations below.   

For New Students:  To take full advantage of your activity fee, including being able to use your U-Pass on Thursday, September 18, 2008, be sure to obtain your WildCard (http://www.univsvcs.northwestern.edu/WildCard/) by Thursday, September 4 .  The photo from your WildCard will be sent to CTA to make your U-Pass.

For Returning Students:  The last day you can use your summer quarter U-Pass is Sunday, 8/31/08, at 11:59 p.m.  Be sure to register as a full-time student for Fall 2008 by Friday, August 15, 2008 in order for the U-Pass to be activated and available for use on Thursday, September 18, 2008.

EVANSTON LOCATIONS

Students enrolled at the Evanston Campus will have various opportunities to pick up their U-Passes.  Please bring your WildCARD for identification purposes to one of the following locations:  (Note that dates and times are specific to each location.)

  • Thursday, September 11th and Friday, September 12th, 2008 (from 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) at McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science - U-Passes will be distributed on the first floor just inside the Tech main entrance, between LR2 and LR3.
  • Monday, September 15th , 2008. For New Students at NU Beginnings U-Passes will be distributed in the Louis Room (2nd Floor) of Norris University Center.
  • Tuesday, September 16th - Thursday, September 18th, 2008 (from 9 a.m - 3:30 p.m.) at the Norris University Center, Cashier's Office on the first floor, far left of Starbucks, the Box Office, and SOFO accounts.  NOTE TO GRADUATE STUDENTS:  Please go directly to the Cashier's Office service window to avoid being confused with other lines that may have formed for the Norris Box Office or the Student Organization Finance Office.  
  • Friday, September 19th, 2008 and afterwards (from 8:30 a.m - 5 p.m.) all remaining Evanston Campus U-Passes will be distributed at The Graduate School on Evanston Campus, located at 633 Clark, in the Clock tower building, North Tower, 1st floor (across from Burger King).  

CHICAGO LOCATIONS

 U-Passes will be distributed to Chicago Campus students from several locations on Chicago Campus.

  • The IGP, Genetic Counseling, NUIN, and Clinical Psychology Offices will distribute U-Passes to students in their program, beginning Thursday, September 11th, until they have all have been claimed.

All late Chicago Campus U-Passes will be distributed from The Graduate School's Chicago Campus office located in Room #1010 of Abbott Hall (710 N. Lake Shore Drive).

The Chicago schedule for the upcoming academic year follows:

Open every Monday and Tuesday  EXCEPT during the first two and last two weeks of each quarter when we'll be open on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.  (For Fall quarter, that would be the weeks of September 22, September 29, November 24 and December 2).

2)  U-Passes are reissued summer, fall, and winter quarters.

3)  U-Passes will be deactivated for the first three weeks in September and the last three weeks in December due to summer and holiday breaks.

4) U-Passes issued for fall quarter 2008 will be effective every day, all day, September 18-December 11, 2008

5)  Students enrolled in 512 (continuous registration), 513, 514, 510 (Co-op internship) 506, 507, 508 and those with other less-than-full-time registration will not be charged the activity fee and are NOT eligible for the activities described in this announcement.

6)  Students who are enrolling full-time for the first time during any quarter may get access to the U-Pass.  Please obtain a Wild Card and inform Penny Warren, Assistant Dean of Student Life and Multicultural Affairs at The Graduate School, telephone, 847-491-8507 or by e-mail at
p-warren@northwestern.edu so she may submit your information to CTA and U-Passes can be created for you.

7) Students who have asked to not have their personal information released by the University will not be able to take advantage of their photos being electronically sent to CTA for the U-Pass; these students will have to obtain their U-Pass directly from CTA.
