Establish and maintain an active and healthy lifestyle when you take advantage of the fitness and recreational sports facilities available to the Northwestern community. For students who want to lose weight and get in shape, unwind from the stress of daily life, or simply have a bit of fun, the Department of Athletics and Recreation offers facilities suited to meet your needs. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and affiliates are encouraged to make use of various fitness and recreation-related facilities. Use of these facilities is free to current full-time students who have a valid WildCARD ID. Others must possess a facility membership or purchase a daily pass.
The Henry Crown Sports Pavilion and Dellora A. and Lester J. Norris Aquatics Center, 2311 Campus Drive, Evanston campus, houses an Olympic-size swimming pool, an indoor track, full circuits of weight-training machines, free weights, and cardiovascular equipment. The Combe Tennis Center, featuring six indoor courts, is also housed in the sports pavilion complex. Drop-in recreation periods are scheduled throughout the day and evening at the sports and aquatics center as well as at Blomquist Recreation Center and Patten Gym.
Graduate students are eligible to register for noncredit classes in swimming, sailing, group fitness weight conditioning, and scuba by paying the appropriate fee. Registration for classes takes place at the registration office located in the sports and aquatics center. A listing of classes and activities offered is available in the Fitness and Recreation Information Packet or by viewing the Fitness and Recreation Web page at www.northwestern.edu/fitness-recreation.
