The
Northwestern Center for Drug Discovery and Chemical Biology offers a
summer program for high school, undergraduate and medical students
interested in drug discovery research. Students will spend 8-10 weeks
pursuing research in biology, chemistry or structure, or research at
the basic science: clinical interface by working in the laboratory of a
faculty mentor. Examples of research areas include discovery of new
compounds and drug targets in the post-genomic era, intracellular
signal transduction pathways, ligand modulation of biological
responses, structure-assisted drug design and bioinformatics, and the
molecular basis of neurodegenerative diseases and depressive disorders.
Students will also participate in a weekly meeting with other students
in the program, where topics relevant to drug discovery will be
introduced. This program is open to all students, and underrepresented
minorities are particularly encouraged to apply. For more information
go to http://www.northwestern.edu/research/cddcb/ or contact Dr. Ernest Moore at 312-503-1736 or mooreer@northwestern.edu.
