International SOS:
The International SOS Personal Travel Locator makes important contact information available to International SOS and Northwestern on-call staff so that students can be notified in the event of a crisis or emergency. (Northwestern faculty and staff are invited to use the “International SOS” Web site for professional or personal travel outside the U.S., but are not required to do so.)
All Northwestern University graduate students should register for the "International SOS" program, prior to their period of study abroad. Students currently studying abroad should register online. This free service provides students with access to an array of health, safety and other vitally important travel information and email alerts. For additional information and instructions for registering, please visit the Study Abroad Web site.
Health Insurance for International Travelers:
Northwestern University requires graduate students participating in study or research abroad to maintain health insurance coverage that meets the standards set by the University’s Office of Risk Management, and to make certain that their policies cover them while abroad. Students should visit the Risk Management Web site for additional information and a list of coverage options.
