Current Research & Future Careers Symposium (2017):  Abstract Submission OPEN NOW!

Modified: June 30, 2017

This year NUPF and Bioprofessionals have teamed up to bring you a new kind of symposium.

We listened to your requests for more events exploring future career paths, opportunities to network with professionals and platforms to

present your current research.

This whole day event is open to all postdocs and graduate students in any discipline at Northwestern.

The program at a glance:

9:45-10:45 am: Concurrent Sessions:

  • Networking and Marketing Yourself for Careers Outside Academics;
  • Breaking into Academia

10:45 am-12:00 pm: Breaking into Biotech and Pharma (career panel) featuring:

  • Christopher Harp (Scientist, Genentech - San Francisco)
  • Jacqueline Nielsen (Scientific Director, Medical Affairs Oncology, AbbVie)
  • Catherine Stewart (Research Information Scientist, Abbvie)
  • Meg Ruesch (Vice President, Pfizer)
  • Jason Hudak (Research Scientist, Evelo Biosciences - Boston)

12:00-1:15 pm: Networking Roundtable Lunches with Panelists

1:15-1:45 pm: Eclipse Viewing Party

1:45-2:15 pm: Student and Postdoc Short Talks

2:15-3:15 pm: Keynote Address, Meg Ruesch, Vice President, Pfizer

3:15-5:00 pm: Poster Session and Reception

We've transformed our short talk abstract selection into a 2 minute video abstract submission process. You can be as creative as you desire, we just have two requirements: that we learn something new and we're excited about your research.

Video abstract finalists will present their work at the symposium session immediately before our keynote talk from Meg Ruesch, Vice President, Pfizer (and Northwestern alum).

If you don't wan't to submit an abstract for the event, you're still very welcome to attend, but we still need you to RSVP below.

Monday, August 21, 9:45 am - 5:00 pm

Baldwin Auditorium, 303 E Superior St, Chicago campus

Deadline for all abstract submissions is Friday, July 21, 2017 at 5 pm.

Presenters will be notified by Monday, August 1st, 2017 of their status.

Supported by:
