NRC Research Associate Programs

Modified: January 13, 2016

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine is pleased to announce opportunities for postdoctoral, senior, and graduate fellowship awards in the 2016 NRC Research Associateship Programs. These programs provide opportunities for PhD, ScD, or MD scientists and engineers to perform research of their own choosing that is compatible with the research interests of the sponsoring laboratory. Applications are due February 1st (next deadlines are May 1st, August 1st and November 1st; please note, not all agencies review applications during every cycle. Please see the website).

The awards are made for one or two years and are renewable for a maximum of three years. Annual stipends for recent doctoral recipients range from $45,000 to $80,000 depending upon the sponsoring laboratory. Associates receive health insurance and financial support for allowable relocation expenses and an allowance for professional travel. The host laboratory provides facilities, supplies, equipment, and other support services required for the conduct of the research program.

Detailed program information including instructions on how to submit applications, a list of participating laboratories and their locations, and areas of research can be found on the website. Prospective applicants must contact the research adviser at the lab they are interested in to discuss their research prior to applying. Please contact the fellowships office with any additional questions.
