Fourth Annual Faculty Women of Color in the Academy National Conference

On April 1st-2nd, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign will host a national conference that offers women of color, faculty, university administrators, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students a unique educational and professional opportunity to network, engage, and learn with peers from around the country. The two-day conference features prominent and well-known women of color scholars as keynote speakers, panelists, and workshop facilitators.

Presenters include:

Julianne Malveaux, President Emerita of Bennett College, author and syndicated communist
Sonia Nieto, Professor Emerita of Language, Literacy and Culture, School of Education, University of Massachusetts, Amherst
Mia Tuan, Dean of the College of Education, University of Washington
Kerry Ann Rockquemore, President and CEO of the National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity.

They will share their wisdom, insight, and experiences as women of color in the academy. There will also be a special performance by Joy Harjo, internationally known poet, writer, member of the Mvskoke/Creek Nation, and the 2015 Wallace Stevens award winner for poetry.
