The Graduate School is working to improve and expand its professional development programming, including the Preparing Future Faculty program:
What was formerly the Preparing Future Faculty course (TGS 564) will no longer be offered:
- Instead, components of PFF that were once available only to students enrolled in the course will be available to all students. This includes site visits to other institutions and panel discussions with faculty from NU and other colleges and universities.
- The mentor component of PFF will now be rolled in to the Searle Center’s Graduate Teaching Certificate Program. The 2007/2008 Certificate program currently has a waiting list. Please send an email to the Searle Center to request a place on the waiting list. Please also explore their website for information on additional programming and resources.
NU Directions will encompass all professional development programming throughout the year on topics such as careers outside of academia, job searching, funding, and more. The Graduate School will soon launch a NU Directions website which includes a programming schedule, links to other departments that offer programming, and links to resources.
Please contact Kate Veraldi with questions about NU Directions and Preparing Future Faculty.
