Welcome to the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA) at Northwestern University!
There are over 650 postdoctoral fellows currently training at Northwestern University. The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs is a central resource on all facets of postdoctoral training and education at Northwestern. The OPA is charged with articulation and establishment of pertinent policies on postdoctoral training and strategic enhancement of postdoctoral education at NU. The OPA serves as the office that provides information and assistance on recruitment, appointment, orientation, assisting HR in employee relations, managing individual postdoc or faculty concerns and liaising on behalf of our constituents with other university offices. The OPA would like to foster better integration of postdoctoral fellows within NU and provide career, quality of life and professional development programs.
Some of our early initiatives were:
• Conducting a university-wide needs evaluation and creating awareness of this office.
• Developing and maintaining a website relevant to postdoctoral training at Northwestern.
• Meeting and interacting with postdoctoral association members across campus.
• Generating a database on information about fellows and their training at the university.
• Creating a listserv for the effective dissemination of information to all fellows, especially regarding career opportunities and personal
development events.
Your input is very welcome so please do contact us anytime via email at postdocs@northwestern.edu with suggestions and ideas. This office exists to support you so feel free to call up and schedule a time to meet! Since the website is constantly being updated, make sure to check back often for events, funding or training opportunities!
