Armed Robbery Police Update
In reference to the armed robbery report from January 26, 2012, the following has been done by the Northwestern Police Department to adjust deployment strategies and assist the Evanston Police Department with police coverage west of our main campus:
· The Third Shift has a special early car deployment in the areas of the recent robberies (Orrington East – Ridge West – Clark South and Lincoln North) starting at 1:00pm. This early car will be patrolling during the time of the Second (morning) and Third (afternoon) shift change, so police coverage in the area is constant.
· Field Services has prepared for and is implementing two early cars as of Saturday, January 28, 2012 per your insight reference the warmer weather and the potential uptick in pedestrian activity. The squad cars will have a special north and south patrol zone west of campus. Foster St will be the dividing line between the special north and south (fifth ward) patrol zones
· The Problem Solving Team officers (four) are assigned to work from 6:00pm until 2:00am and will be concentrating their patrols in the areas as well.
· The case report from the Evanston Police department has been obtained for administrative/roll call information and it is being reviewed by officers during shift roll calls.
· The crime alert was immediately distributed to all Field Services supervisors.
· Field Services and Communications continue to monitor EPD radio traffic – responding as needed to calls for service in the area where these incidents have taken place. This will allow for expeditious response times (within two minutes.)
