For Students Travelling Internationally for Conference Presentations
Northwestern has contracted with “International SOS” to provide FREE worldwide travel assistance and services, as well as medical and security advice, for all students and employees who travel abroad to study or conduct University business.
THIS IS A REMINDER THAT ALL NORTHWESTERN¬ STUDENTS, BOTH GRADUATE AND UNDERGRADUATE, ARE REQUIRED TO REGISTER WITH “INTERNATIONAL SOS” AND CREATE A “PERSONAL TRAVEL LOCATOR” PRIOR TO ANY PERIOD OF STUDY, RESEARCH, OR TRAVEL ABROAD THAT IS APPROVED, FUNDED OR SUPPORTED BY NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY.
The International SOS Personal Travel Locator makes important contact information available to International SOS and Northwestern on-call staff so that students can be notified in the event of a crisis or emergency.
(Northwestern faculty and staff are invited to use the “International SOS” website for professional or personal travel outside the U.S., but are not required to do so.)
*Students abroad should print out and carry the “International SOS” wallet card and emergency contact information with them at all times.*
For more information on “International SOS” services and a step-by-step guide to registering, consult the Office of Risk Management website:http://www.northwestern.edu/risk/travelSOS.htm
If you have any questions about “International SOS” please contact Christopher Johnson, Director of Risk Management, at 847-491-8518.
