The following proposals have been approved by the Administrative Board for 2007-2008:
As is customary, final approval of these proposals will not occur until the Graduate Faculty vote in May 2008.
The Graduate School oversees doctoral and academic master's programs and curriculum as well as the curricula of MFA programs in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences and School of Communication. Any requests to modify the existing curriculum, whether that involves revising a course description or adding an entirely new degree program must be proposed to The Graduate School. The Graduate School leadership reviews these proposals and, if need be, works with the submitting program to assure that all necessary issues, problems, or concerns are addressed. Once the Dean of the Graduate School approves these changes to the curriculum, they are submitted to the Administrative Board of The Graduate School for a vote. The Administrative Board meets quarterly. If this group takes no issue with a proposed change, the request for modification goes before the Graduate Faculty for final approval. If this group does take issue with a proposed change, the submitting program may be asked to present to the Board to address the members and resolve remaining concerns. All revisions to the curriculum are instituted officially at the beginning of the following academic year.
The Graduate School accepts proposals for curriculum change the entire year, including during the summer. However, TGS requires that any proposed change to the curriculum that a submitting department or program would like to come before the quarterly meeting of the Administrative Board must be submitted three weeks before that meeting. The dates for the 2007-2008 meetings are: October 25, 2007, January 31, 2008, and April 24, 2008. Therefore, proposals for curricular change must be submitted by October 4, 2007, January 10, 2008, or April 3, 2008. Proposals submitted after the quarterly deadline will be reviewed the following academic term. The Administrative Board does not meet over the summer.
Please see below the forms for submitting curricular and program changes to The Graduate School. If you have any questions, or are unable to access these forms, please contact Stephen Scott, Coordinator of Student Services at sms@northwestern.edu.
