TGS Excellence in Doctoral Mentoring Initiative

mentoringResearch on mentoring doctoral students concludes that advising substantially affects students’ success in academia:  advisees are most effective when they feel respected, encouraged, and supported so they can function within the profession (Schlosser, Hill, Knox, and Mosikovitz 2003: Schlosser and Gelso 2001).

Professor Tracy Davis is leading this new TGS/Office of the Provost mentoring initiative, which will provide activities, programming and resources to faculty.  Learn more about the initiative by reviewing information on the learning sets, viewing the resource list, the Best Practices for Mentors of Doctoral Students, and the Excellence in Doctoral Mentoring document.
