Other PhD Degree Requirements
- Examinations: proficiency examinations in inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry; deficiencies made up through coursework; oral qualifying examination prior to end of seven quarters of graduate study
- Research/Projects: qualifying examination consisting of written document and oral examination; presentation of one seminar; original research proposal consisting of written document and oral defense (not an extension of dissertation research)
- PhD Dissertation: must describe original research
- Final Evaluations: oral evaluation when all other requirements completed
- Other: all full-time students required to teach for four quarters in their first two years of study.
