Programs  
 
The Henry and Leigh Bienen School of Music is a professional school within the University. Advanced studies in music education, musicology, and music cognition leading to the PhD degree are offered by the Bienen School of Music's Department of Music Studies through The Graduate School.
Curricula leading to the Doctor of Music (including the Doctor of Music in composition, music technology and performance areas), Certificate in Performance, and Master of Music, are administered independently by the Bienen School of Music. General Degree Requirements

All PhD students in music take three core courses in critical methods during the first year. Coursework beyond the core is determined in consultation with the program faculty.
