Coursework Requirements
Programs of study for the PhD include MS requirements plus advanced engineering courses with coursework as needed in mathematics, operations research, chemistry, biology, geology, physics, materials science, economics, geography, sociology, and political science. (See department guide.)
Other PhD Degree Requirements
- Examinations: preliminary qualifying examination in Environmental Engineering and Science, consisting of written comprehensive exam usually taken after first year; comprehensive qualifying examination for admission to candidacy in all areas
- Research/Projects: toward dissertation
- PhD Dissertation: based on original, independent research
- Final Evaluations: oral defense of dissertation
