  • Examinations: preliminary written examinations based on first-year coursework; oral qualifying examination; candidacy achieved after preliminary exams, seminar papers, and qualifying examination
  • Research/Projects: two papers by end of second year
  • PhD Dissertation: original and significant research
  • Final Evaluations: oral defense of dissertation
