Program Description

The Department of Radio/Television/Film (R/TV/F) offers advanced study leading to the MFA degree and the PhD in Screen Cultures. The department is committed to the integration of scholarship with media production and screen writing within a liberal arts context. The department enjoys excellent facilities, including studios, video-editing suites, 16 mm suites, computer-graphics facilities, HD and 16 mm cameras, and related equipment. The facilities also house an auditorium, smart seminar rooms, and a film and video library collection. Students may participate in WNUR Radio, a perennially award-winning and trend-setting university radio station.

The MFA requires two years of full-time course work, plus a third year consisting of a yearlong thesis production seminar and a public presentation of a media work produced by the student.

For information regarding the PhD track in Screen Cultures see the interdepartmental program in Media, Technology, and Society on this Web site.
