The divisions of the School of Communication that offer coursework leading to advanced degrees in The Graduate School are Communication Sciences and Disorders, Communication Studies, Performance Studies, Radio/Television/Film, and Theatre. The School offers an interdisciplinary graduate program in Media, Technology and Society, based in the departments of Radio/Television/Film and Communication Studies. The School of Communication also offers a multidisciplinary PhD program in Theatre and Drama, based in the Department of Theatre, that incorporates faculty and resources in the field from throughout the University.
Prospective students in all divisions of the School of Communication are advised to indicate their major area of interest at the time of application.

General Coursework Requirements
In addition to specific coursework requirements of the individual School of Communication departments, see the coursework requirements below.
Students must fulfill the following coursework requirements:
- three full-time quarters of credit in approved graduate courses with a grade average of at least B for the total degree program
- at least two full-time quarters of credit in the student's major field of study
- participation in a seminar in the major field or its approved equivalent
