Family Institute Degree Programs

The Family Institute at Northwestern University is the Midwest’s oldest and largest center devoted to marital and family therapy, professional education and research. Their focus is to strengthen and heal families.  Professional staff are nationally recognized experts who integrate the roles of therapist, teacher and researcher.  They provide clinical services for families, couples and individuals; offer graduate and postgraduate education programs; and conduct research on treatment methods and outcomes. Family Institute staff treat more than 2,400 families, couples or individuals each year, involving more than 25,000 therapy sessions.  Researchers, clinicians, and counselors at the Family Institute also teach in the two master's programs offered by the institute in collaboration with The Graduate School: Counseling Psychology and Marital and Family Therapy.
