TGS Cross-Cultural 4-day Writing Retreat

Modified: April 4, 2017

The Graduate Student group "TGS Cross-Cultural" is organizing a 4-day writing retreat for advanced graduate students in beautiful cabin in Wisconsin. TGS Cross-Cultural's mission is to support critical cross-cultural awareness and facilitate productive dialogues and collaborations across cultural and disciplinary divides. They are organizing a writing retreat because they recognize that advanced graduate work may be especially alienating and stressful, and that creating supportive and beautiful conditions for writing with others can be nurturing, stimulating and community-building.

With help of TGS sponsorship, they are organizing a very affordable ($100 per student) writing retreat for 4 full days (including lodging, meals and transportation). They hope to bring together people a diverse group of individuals, including, for instance, people of color, international students, and people’s whose research deals with intersectionalities of race, gender, class, nationalism, and sexuality.

The retreat will take place April 20-24, 2017 and include the following:

  • Beautiful natural lake-side lodge in the Wisconsin Dells
  • Shared bed rooms
  • Collectively Cooked Vegetarian Meals
  • Optional Yoga and Meditation
  • Optional morning goal-setting & evening reflections

They welcome advanced students from across departments to apply. Space is limited to 20 participants. Those who have completed exams and defended their dissertation proposals will be given priority. Deadline to apply is April 10, 2017 by 11:59pm.
