NIGMS Announces New NRSA Training Grant (T32)

Modified: October 16, 2017

The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) has announced its new Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Predoctoral Institutional Research Training Grant (T32). This NIGMS-specific T32 is intended to emphasize trainee development, and so it also focuses on skills development, career development, training in rigor and reproducibility, diversity and inclusion, responsible conduct, and evaluation and career outcomes. Applications open April 25, 2018, and standard due dates apply.

Except for Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) applications, all NIGMS predoctoral T32 applications submitted after the January 2018 receipt date must follow the guidelines in the new FOA and will be submitted as new proposals.

In the coming weeks the Training Grant Support Office will be creating aids to help outline the key changes, objectives and considerations contained in the new notice. These will be uploaded to the Training Grant Directors and Training Grant Administrators  NU Box folders. Although this doesn’t affect non-NIGMS T32 proposals currently, we anticipate that over time, many of the institutes will be following the direction and trends set forth in the NIGMS announcement.
