Fighting for LGBTQ Rights and People in a Trump-Pence Era
On February 22, 5-8 PM, the inaugural NU Queer Coalition Event will be an interdisciplinary discussion panel on, "Fighting for LGBTQ Rights and People in a Trump-Pence Era," with a food + drinks reception to follow. The NU Queer Coalition is a collection of NU LGBTQ student organizations including the Queer Pride Graduate Student Association who organized this event. Scholars from law, medicine, sociology, and African American studies will make short presentations on the impact of the new administration on LGBTQ issues in their field of research. The moderator, Jill Dispenza from Center on Halsted, will lead panelists in a discussion of practical ways for queer and straight Americans to fight for LGBTQ rights and people. Doors open at 5pm; the discussion panel is from 5:30 to 7pm; reception is from 7 to 8pm. Event admission is free including dinner and a cash bar. The event location is the Guild Lounge in Scott Hall, 601 University Place, Evanston, IL. Allies are welcome.
