CS Tenure-Track Position: South Dakota School of Mines & Technology

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology invites applications for a tenure-track position in Computer Science with the anticipated start date of fall semester 2018. A doctorate in Computer Science or a closely related field and a commitment to teaching is required.  Preference will be given to individuals with an established record of excellence in teaching and research and an interest in: security, machine learning, theory of computation, or robotics.  However, any areas of research expertise in computer science will be considered. The successful applicant is expected to teach a wide range of undergraduate and graduate computer science courses, advise students, supervise student projects, and participate in scholarly activity. The typical teaching load is two courses per semester. Teaching is a primary component of this position, but maintaining an active research program is also expected.


The department offers an ABET-accredited B.S. degree in Computer Science and a B.S. degree in Applied and Computational Mathematics. The department also offers an M.S. degree in Computational Sciences and Robotics. Department research interests include robotics, computer vision, virtual reality, machine learning, high performance computing, and security.
